Role of thioredoxins and regulation of starch metabolism in acclimation to light and temperature

In this project we will investigate the role of dynamic adjustments in chloroplast metabolism to accli-mate to sudden changes in light and temperature in Arabidopsis plants. The first objective is to dis-sect the role of ferredoxin- and NADPH-dependent chloroplast thioredoxin systems to ensure dynam-ic light-responsive adjustment of chloroplast metabolism during acclimation to high light or fluctuat-ing light. The second objective is to investigate the impact of the regulation of starch metabolism on the accumulation of stromal sugars during cold acclimation and frost tolerance.
