Dynamics of plastid translation and translational regulation in acclimation processes
Chloroplast translation plays an important role in acclimation processes of plants in response to changing light and temperature conditions. The recently developed ribosome profiling technology enables the quantitative and genome-wide analysis of translation. Using ribosome profiling and mass spectrometry, we will analyze (i) how translation contributes to the dynamics of plastid gene expres-sion in acclimation processes, (ii) which factors are involved in the regulation, and (iii) how the non-essential ribosomal proteins Rps15 and Rpl33 participate. Furthermore, we aim to address how the dynamics of translational control are coordinated between the three genetic compartments of plant cells.
